Agathonisi is the
northernmost island of the Dodecanese. It is a
small island well off the beaten path and has
an authentic Greek island atmosphere. Even in
the peak of the tourist season in August,
Agathonisi keeps its character of tranquility
and relaxation. At the beaches next to the
main port there are only a few local people or
a couple of tourists approaching by boat, or
maybe a few tents. Other beautiful secluded
coves are completely deserted and await for
those looking for the ultimate in relaxation.
A couple of very good taverns can be found on
the harbour. The island has some interesting
historic sights and beautiful centuries-old
churches unknown to most. Agathonisi is a
unique, paradise island worth to be explored.
